So I've been debating for a while about what to do for fillers. I know everyone would prefer to not have fillers, but unfortunately it's just what we have to do sometimes.

So there are three options to pick from, and I want to see what you guys would prefer.

1. Discussion topics. This is what I've been doing recently, where I'll just post a picture and have a question in the author comment. I've been doing this because it's the easiest for me since all I really have to do is find a picture online. And there have been a few that get quite a few comments and I've been surprised at how some of them turn out.

2. Another story driven comic. This would be like the Sherlock comics or the captain America comics I posted before. They're a little more work but if you guys would rather have a story to go on rather than just random questions I'll do it.

3. No filler. I don't like this option because it breaks our consistency. I don't mind if we occasionally have to not update when we can warn ahead of time, bit I don't want to have the option of just not posting. I feel it's important for us as creators to put something up all the time, if only for the reason to keep us in the habit.

Let me know what you guys think.

I'll throw in for #2. All three options are okay by me, but I prefer to have some form of comic above the comments section, so while I like the discussions themselves, I can't say I'm fond of discussion-only pages. If you're pressed for time, though, they're fine; at least they let us know not to expect a story update and that you're still alive.

Option number 2

I'd rather have a series of storry driven filler personally but it is just my opinion

I'll take option #1: discussion works for me. Another story driven comic runs the risk of either being significantly better or worse than the main one and leaving us disappointed regardless because either the back-up story isn't the main or because the main story isn't the back-up.

I would prefer to have no filler strips.
Since i read quite a bit of Webcomics they always seem to be a bit of a timewaste.
But you could make me happy and Provide regular content by making a "no filler" RSS feed. That way i get all the important stuff, but not the filler Material. :)

While I'd love to do that, I don't think we can since comic fury controls all the backbend stuff...

No filler would be best. I really hate the excitement of seeing a new page followed by the letdown of it being filler.

But, if you must have something, posting storytime questions and letting us readers entertain ourselves in the comments is second best.

Just please don't do story-driven filler. If you're going to be spending time and effort working on something, I'd much rather it be another of your lovely Avenger pages. :)

#2, followed by #1, followed by #3.

Story driven is obviously the best. Potentially think about Guest Comics.

Discussion Topics are always fun to read people's opinions.

If you can't come up with anything, no strip.

If there's going to be filler, I prefer the 2nd option: filler with content.

I suspect that is the hardest kind to produce, however.

Is it heresy to suggest option 4: reduce the update schedule to once a week, giving yourself some time to build up a buffer and still have time for your other busy commitments?

How would you guys feel if we used a platform other than Comicfury to keep you guys updated? We would still post the new strips on Comicfury when they are ready but when we don't have one ready we use like a blog or something to post the filler so you guys can follow that to stay up to date on what's going on. We do still have our twitter account we could use for something like this but we could also use something else. It seems like most of you want us to let you know when we can't update so you know the comic isn't dead but don't really like us doing that through comic fury as it's hard to tell whether it's going to be a be strip or not.

So you're saying a blog where updates to the comic would be posted, as well as the filler, but on here only the main comic would take place?

I'm not sure if that's what you mean, or if that's possible for you guys, but I could see that being a good idea. I don't mind the filler (because I just like checking the site on Mondays and Thursdays regardless), but then people who just subscribe to this page's feed would only see the comic, which seems to be the way they like it.

I mean, in an ideal world 2 followed by 1 is the desirable outcome, but honestly if you haven't got time for the main comic it's hard to see how you'd have time for a filler comic. So throw it back to your readers and have a discussion, I say - I have quite enjoyed reading the RPG related ones, for example, as it's always interesting to see how my group differs from other groups.

You shouldn't feel any need to post something if you have nothing to post. No one is paying you for this, and so, you don't owe anyone anything.

But, if you feel you must give us readers *something*, go with the discussion posts. Any amount of time and effort you spend making a story-driven comic, or even one-off fun comics, is time and effort you could be spending on your main comic.

And, if the pace you've set for yourself is too much for you to keep up with, then reduce it. It's obvious you want to produce a high quality comic, and that's a great goal to strive for. However, that quality comes at the cost of speed, and there's no need to set grueling deadlines for yourself, especially since this is something you're doing on your own time for fun.

I don't mind the discussion posts (that's my first choice), but maybe you guys COULD look into doing guest comics, guest posts, etc. Less work on you guys! :)

As much as I love reading this comic and hearing from you guys twice a week, maybe dropping down to just Mondays wouldn't be such a bad thing. You could easily start picking up Thursdays again if you wanted to.

Here's an idea: What if you do your best to keep the regular comic going on Mondays, but on days where that's just not possible you do a filler story? Thursdays could then be "Bonus Content Thursdays", in which you would either post a discussion, a guest submitted discussion, a guest comic, or anything else you can think of. That way people who prefer just the regular comic can just check in on Mondays (and thus miss Thursday's post entirely) while those who find the bonus content enjoyable can pop in on Thursdays for an extra treat.

Just a suggestion. I love your comic, so keep up the great work! I'm glad you guys are being level with us and discussing this with the community. It speaks highly of your dedication to those who read your comic. :)

I prefer option 4. A hiatus while you build a backlog of comics so we don't have any fillers.

On a side note... I never got any bonus content for filling out the survey 6 months ago. Should I just write that off?
